This week had been pretty boring,had career talk in NYP where they(the speakers)showed us the difference between JC and Poly.Then, the lecturers from different courses told us about their respective courses,it was a little bit boring because after the tea break, we didn’t had anymore breaks and like 5 speakers spoke one after another then had another speaker from a company that is suppose to motivate us,I think..so, was pretty restless after that. Then,the next day, went to ITE(Mcpherson) where we went for a tour at the school(which was nice!) and had another course talk..almost bored me out of my mind.

On Tuesday, had speech day rehearsal.it was raining and well, it kind of distract me and stuff and I was nervous so I kind of forgot my marching stuff.edith said it was bad..lol..see,told u,my marching sucks..lol..i am more cut out for admin stuff.

Today..had pioneer course at the guide house…soo fun lor! Arrived at the guides house at around 8:50am and surprise! Edith was early,that’s a first for her..Lol.The teacher that was taking us was mr mail, I have to say,he is a very humorous teacher and his teaching is effective.lol.we did firelighting first by collecting the twigs,punks and all near the Bishan stadium and swimming complex there and we had to climb up a hill to get the twigs and I got to see the swimming complex!bring back memories of the swim meet and the p3 swimming lessons that was held there.Then,mr mail demo to us the way to dig the pit and how the start the fire when we went back to the guides house,you know,he dig a perfect pit!Thats like wow! I was in a group with jie and da and I think cuz we didn’t have enough twigs bah,then our fire went out but edith saved us when she gave us her twigs and her coconut husks.thanx! Then we were taught how to make an emergency shelter using a poncho .hehe..our shelter was soo shady! I was soo sad when we were told to take it down.then we did rope ladder in which we had to make a ladder out of wood poles that were given. Wah and Jie did most of the work cuz I don’t know how to do the clove knot..yeah.we were told to climb up the ladder after that..it was quite scary and I was the last one to go up..hehe.Then we went for lunch and I ate Long John with Jie,Da,Edith,Wah,Xinyu and Ms Ng! haha..then jie and I had mini melts after that..hehe.
After Lunch, we did axemanship, We were told on which axe is used on which purposes and how to find out whether the axe is loose and so on and so forth and which saw to use on which wood. We were split up into 2 groups,like in the rope ladder. My group did the sawing off the wood first than the axeing..haha..i have a phobia towards axeing cuz I scrimp my finger during the outdoor cooking competition. I think that was why I tapped the wood instead of really hitting it…haha.Then had map reading..it was fun! I was with Wah and Edith.We had all the answers correct.yay!As of now,Jolene is known as AMK..hehe..Then had briefing and mr mail told us the time allocation for the each section..haha..i am gonna to be soo dead for the firelighting…we are only given 2 matchsticks.Not to forget the rope ladder too.Overall…the course is fun! We also got some tips from mr mail.so,next time,can make fire under 10mins..yay!!We will be coming back for the test on the 11th of April..yap.
